Fitness and Adventure Breaks – A Different Kind of Holiday

A holiday is what you make it. For some, kicking back on the beach soaking up the sun is there idea of heaven. For others, exploring foreign lands immersing themselves in different cultures would be their idea of the perfect holiday.  There are a few people amongst us that prefer adventure and fitness holidays that could have a wee bit of everything thrown in there. Now the adventurer types will find that package holidays catering to all sorts of activities are becoming easier to find with so many websites popping up offering everything those active types might want or need.

Africa is becoming a very popular destination for these kinds of holiday and why not? From hiking through the plains of Africa to climbing the extremely challenging Mount Kilimanjaro, there is little not to like for those of us seeking something of a challenge.

There are many different countries within Europe with the ability to attract the daredevil crowd. Those who favour the mountain trekking would be spoiled for choice with the Pyrenees and Alps presenting the opportunity for spectacular views for hundreds of miles on a clear day.  If you prefer water to land, then there is so much choice from surfing off the Bay of Biscay to white water rafting down the Noce river in Northern Italy.

North, Central and South America offer a wealth of activities for the thrill seeker.  Visit the Athabasca glacier in Canada where views are amongst the most amazing the world or travel to the United States where you can do anything from hiking at the Grand Canyon  to tackling the river rapids In Idaho. Monument Valley is one of the wonders that should not be missed.

If you go down mexico way in Central America, you have the option of watersports off the coast of Cancun along with all the culture highlights Mexico has to offer, for instance it’s Mayan heritage in the form of city ruins just begging to be explored.  South America offers the likes of the Inca trail which leads to one of the most famous historical sites in the world, Machu Picchu.

One of the things on so many bucket lists in the world would be to climb Mount Everest. Nepal is one of those places where you have to see it to believe it. China of course offers us the Great wall which is over 13.000 miles long, well worth trying to at least give some of it a walk.

These are only a handful of places that can offer the mad-caps out there the thrill of adventure. Question is, however would they get through them all?
